After announcing the color of the millennium in 1999 there was so much public interest that Pantone decided to name a color every year based on their extensive research. The authorities have spoken. Marsala, a gorgeous terracotta red shade, has been named the official color of the year by the biggest experts in the field.
So just how is the color chosen? in high fashion, current films in production for settings and wardrobe, the art world, popular travel destinations for indigenous hues, and sporting events for team colors ... it's curious how many people are on the same wavelength thinking the same thing.
Marsala, this earthy red wine a very warm brown underneath, which gives the feeling of groundedness, strength, and confidence. It has a richness that lends sophistication. When you wear it’s it is a self-fulfilling prophecy—you’ll find you get positive reactions form others and it builds up your confidence.
In terms of wearability, depending how you wear it, the color goes from sultry to simple. You can use the shade in a sheer soft way, wrap it around the eye, wear it on your cheek, wear it on the lips—it really is a wearable shade. And the color may bring you one step closer to looking like a supermodel. “The color immediately reminded me of Cindy Crawford back in the ‘90s with that monochromatic look.
With nude makeup all the rage on the runway and the red carpet, Marsala is like a new neutral for all skin tones. Every year we say the challenge is how to shake it up a little bit and make a splash, but we could tell immediately with this particular shade that we’d have more versatility. the lipstick and 24-shade eye palette have been the first to fly off shelves. Marsala is a color that I would not say to just use in touches or accents—it’s strong enough to stand on its own. In makeup it’s a shoe-in because women are familiar with this type of color in nail polish and lipsticks.
Perhaps the easiest way to wear marsala is with a lipstick. “It’s a beautiful, very creamy shade, super hydrating on the lip,”. “I like to do is use my finger tip and just push it onto the skin. It’s like your lips, but better.”

Time for some lip love with cupid's bow. What exactly is cupid's bow? double curve of the upper lip. We say: "it's the most provocative part of your pucker!" One end of the double-ended pencil (benefit), the bow maker, accents & highlights the curve of your cupid's bow. So it's as easy as blowing a kiss! the other is Marsala. @benefitcosmetics cupid's bow.
I rescued a shade of eye Estée Lauder. I bought my mother. I love the bright light shade, and of course the color of Marsala.
One of my first gift in the
@birchbox was The Enchanted Eyes is a double-ended shimmer cream eyeshadow pencil with a grey colour on one end and a marsala on the other. Therefore you can apply the grey across the lid and blend it out then blend the darker shade into the outer part of your lid and underneath the eye. I find that although you can do a smokey eye with this, it can definitely work during the day. The formula is really creamy, which means it's really easy to blend them in or sheer them out across the lid.
Use the E.Lauder power shade in basis and up the MeMeMe pencil.
Impressive Christian Louboutin Iriza 100 satin d'Orsay pumps ($625) They may have red soles, but these four-inch stilettos are pure marsala.
